RESTORING HOMES AND HEARTS
Community
People from impoverished homes tend to live in harsh conditions, but this is the reality that they face daily. Understanding this situation, we created the Mesra Rakyat Project (Projek Mesra Rakyat) - a project that aims to repair or restore the less than ideal parts of their homes, so they can have a better quality of life.
This newly launched project of ours currently aims to assist 24 homes nationwide within the coming year. At present, we have assisted in rebuilding parts of these underprivileged homes such as the kitchen, bedroom, bathroom, and living room. In some cases, we concentrate only on the floors as parts of these homes can sometimes be so dilapidated that they not only raise safety concerns for those living in them, but also impede their ability to conduct even simple tasks in their lives.
With all these in mind, we have reached out to numerous non-bumiputera residents to help them regain some normalcy in their lives as we rebuild and repair these parts of their homes.
When we embark on a quest to restore a home, we do so not only with the help of our volunteers but also with the assistance of the local community, simultaneously reinvigorating the sense of belonging within said community.
Currently, we have allocated a sum of no more than RM30,000 to each home, and we will definitely be increasing the number of homes we will be restoring in 2018.
